Coming soon...

I just bought about 10 different mascaras from Ulta. There was a huge buy 2 get 2 free deal and had a coupon and gift card and blah, blah, blah. Like I need an excuse to buy makeup, right? Anyway, I will be doing a bunch of mascara reviews. I will be reviewing drugstore as well as highend products. I really hate spending money on mascara, so lets see if those drugstore brands are just as good as the expensive ones...I may finally even do a video! I have a new little pink laptop and I need to try the webcam out.

The next round of reviews will be foundations.

NARS the multiple coffert-so cute!

These are tiny (and I mean tiny!) verions of the multilpe by NARS. Very cute, nice for travel and a great way to try them. It was $40 for the set which isn't too bad as they are normally $37 each. The product is used on eyes, lips or checks, hence the name. I really only like it as a cheek highlighter/blush. It's way too light for me to use as a eyeshadow. Maybe as a shadow base? Hmmm, I'll have to try that. Anyway, also don't really like as a lip product either. So, I know the question is...is it worth the money if you only use it for one thing? I really like this as a cheek highlighter, so for me this tiny set was great. I don't think I would buy the full size product. The colors are as follows:

- Orgasm (peachy pink shimmer)- South Beach (shimmering apricot)- Copacabana (glistening pearl)

Sick Shopping

So, I'm sick from the swine flu and have been in the house for days. My sweet hubby gave me a Sephora egift card so I could shop from home and possibly have a little cheer. I haven't worn makeup in at least 5 days, maybe some kind of record for me. Anyway, imagine my wonderful surprise when I find out Sephora has friends and family discount going on right now!

What an amazing deal! I got a cool Urban Decay liner set, a NARS the multiple set and Bare Minerals Matte foundation. Very excited to try all of these. The liner set has a bunch of new colors in the 24/7 that I've never tried. My staple is zero, a very black eyeliner that I use daily. I will do reviews on all these new items as soon as I try them out.

Also, I think I have finally settled on a vanity that will hold all my makeup and I can move it off the bookshelf!!! I am hoping to order this in the next few days and get it up and running. Will take photos and may ask for help organizing because that is not my strong point.

So yes, the swine flu sucks!!! But shopping online is fun and I have had loads of time to do it!
cough, cough...

I think everyone should have this...

This is a sculpt and shape product. The dark part you apply to places you want to hide, like the hollows of your cheeks, a double chin, the side of a large nose. The light side is the highlighter, so that is the part you would put on your cheek bones, your forehead, down the side of your nose. The highlighter makes parts you want to show off stand out. It's like plastic surgery without the surgery part!!! I like this little compact because its together in one place. I have these from the pro store as two separate blush pans in my blush palette. This is nice to try for someone who has never sculpted before. It makes a HUGE difference to your face. It can literally make your face look 10 pounds lighter. I use a small angled brush (MAC 168) to do the sculpting (darker color). And then use a contour brush (MAC 109 I believe) to highlight. The contour brush is recommended to use as sculpt or contour (hence the name), but I really like the angled brush for that. It really gets into the hollows of the cheeks and makes you look like you have fabulous cheek bones. If you don't have access to a MAC store, most other lines have products similar to this, or you can just buy a really dark blush or bronzer. I think every makeup company has a highlighter product. So if you weren't born with good bone structure, get out there and do it yourself!

MAC brushes. My first tutorial. It will get better, I promise!

I made this awhile ago and just posted it to youtube. Wanted to see what it all looked like posted. I will be making better tutorials. I need to figure out the whole lighting issue, it has been keeping me from making more. I want them to look better than this one!

M∙A∙C STYLE BLACK

I'm really excited about this collection. It's pretty different from anything else that MAC has put out. I'm not sure what I want to get yet. I think I'll have to see it in person before I decide.

Fall collection items I bought

This is what I ended up getting from the fall collection. I love all the shadows, really bright and pretty. I will swatch these later. Now just waiting for the black on black collection later this month.

I'm so creative! brush holder.

I needed a place to put my brushes and the crummy cup thing I was using wasn't cutting it. It kept falling over. I was happy to find a large enough glass jar to hold them all and can hold even more as I get them. I decorated the jar with cute glittery pink stickers and a fun puffy one. So cute and functional as well!

glitter!

This looked really fun! I love glitter!!! These I guess can be used anywhere on the face or body. I will have to play with them a bit and get back to you on the quality and color payoff.

NYC jumbo pencils

The silver is pots and pan and the yellow green is lemon. I use these over a eye primer, not as the primer cause these will crease if on their own. These really make similar shadow colors POP!

M∙A∙C Make-Up Art Cosmetics. A Video.

This video shows the artists vision with these beautiful colors and some really fun abtract makeup choices.

Put the order in...

Ordered a boatload of stuff from the fall collections. I got pretty much everything I wanted which was mostly all shadows! I didn't get any lip stuff at all. Thank goodness for my pro discount is all I can say cause all my stuff (plus 2 small things for a friend) was like 300.00 without it! I did get free shipping, hmm that doesn't sound any better! I will put up color swatches as soon as the big box from MAC hits my door.

MAC new collections link

http://www.maccosmetics.com/

Tells the background of the three artists that inspire and design the fall collections. Cool color charts for the fall looks too.

I will be going to pick up some parts or all of the collections and will be doing some reviews soon. I want to start making videos but am really nervous to do so! Maybe just reviews to start and then some tutorials?

MAC is trying to bankrupt me!

I don't see a lot for the artist Marilyn Minter's (photographer) collection that interests me. I have most of these pigments already. Really just one pigment I really want. "push the edge" a really hot purple color. $19.50

MAC is trying to bankrupt me!

This is artist Maira Kalman, illustrater. Her style is childlike and whimsical. Bright fun colors!

top row-liners "color matters, obviously orange, artistic license, full of fushsia, graphblack" $14.50

top row-shadows "violet trance, purple shower, haunting" $14.50
(in decending order)
bottom row-shadows "maira's mood, off the page, crest the wave" $14.50

MAC is trying to bankrupt me!

So the absolutely fabulous MAC make-up art cosmetics collections are out on the website and in stores on Thursday. So much to chose from, and of course, I want it all!!! So, so hard to pick and chose with this collection. It is inspired from the different artists and is kind of their "take" on makeup and MAC as art (which it is!).

The first artist is a painter named Richard Phillips. His style is bold and dramatic. Some of the items I am eyeing.

Green quad- "photo realism" $36.00

Purple quad- "private viewing" $36.00

lipsticks- "front lit, high strung, hold the pose, full body" $14.00 each

starflash shadows

12 new shadows from MAC. I'm a bit slow on these as they came out last week. Just got these 3 to start. The far left color is "rated R" and was sold out everywhere. Was able to snag one at a Macy's. Really pretty color that blends well with many other colors. I can see why it's so popular. The middle is a green called "one-off" I LOVE greens if you don't all know by now, and this one is awesome. The starflash colors have a shine to them which I think shows up pretty well on the swatch on my finger. The blue on the right is "strike a pose". A nice deep blue with that flash to it. I will be ordering more, was short on cash at the mall this time!

226 brush

How I love this brush!!! It's part of the colourcraft collection that came out on Thursday. This is an Limited edition brush that had come out with the blondes, brunettes, redheads collection in Feb. It sold out then and was impossible to get a hold of one. I passed on it then and heard so many good things about it, that I had made sure to get one this time around. I can understand the hype now. It is a nice stiff brush that is somewhat pointy and is great for the creases. Blends shadows in crease perfect! The pointy part of the brush is also great for detail work in corners and under lash line. Just awesome!

I LOVE honey scents!

YUMMY! I LOVE the smell of honey scented products. MAC has a line if honey scented stuff right now, but this is still my favorite. L'occitane has a whole line of this yummy smelling stuff.I love this "foaming jelly" shower gel. You can also use for a shampoo or a bubble bath. Really thick and lux going on the skin and rinses clean. Smells so devine I want to guzzle it from the bottle!
Looks like they are only selling in 1.7oz size right now for $3.00.
They have a honey and lemon scented line which is new and I haven't tried yet. Yet.

More Lush!

Karma Soap
*Spicy orange and patchouli soap to calm and soothe a tired mindTry Karma soap and see how lemongrass, pine, orange and patchouli essential oils can turn a boring shower into a truly groovy experience. You might think patchouli is only for hippies as it smells just a little too earthy. Well, flower child, you are so wrong! The scent is gentle and lovely but the full effect won't hit you until after your shower... when you experience a moment of true clarity.
My take- a really spicy yummy soap that grows on you, Whenever I use any of the Karma products I can smell it all day and people stop me to ask what the scent is.

Rockstar Soap

*Sweet bubblegum soda pop soap strikes just the right chordThis best-selling, creamy soap delight may smell as sweet as sugar, but it's still just a little bit naughty; you know how rock stars are. So lather up, smile for the camera, then party all night long. Warning: This vanilla-berry handmade wonder has been known to increase singing in the shower so be careful who you give it to!
My take- smells so swwet and good enough to eat. Really smells like candy. A pretty Barbie pink, girly fun color too!
Butterball Bath bomb
*A very vanilla soak to lull your skin into soft submissionGet ready for a hot one. Butterball's flecks of cocoa butter melt into a tubful of soothing deliciousness to make skin soft and supple. The vanilla musk fills your bathroom with a light, sweet bouquet while your skin basks in its moisturizing embrace and your senses sigh with pleasure. You deserve it; so slide into a buttery bath with Butterball.
My take- I love this bath bomb! These are so cool. I break them into 2 pieces so I can get 2 baths out of the pricey bomb. Smells so soothing and comforting. Wish I had a bigger nicer bathtub so I could use this more!

Honey I washed the kids soap
*Sweet honey heaven cleanses and moisturizes sensitive skinImagine pulling the comb straight out of the hive, slathering that divine honey all over, then being showered by a delicate spring rain. Honey I Washed The Kids handmade soap calms sore, sensitive epidermis with a rich aloe vera lather and leaves skin silky smooth and deliciously satiated. Slight hints of bergamot and orange lift your spirit and lull you into an intoxicating honey bliss.
My take- This was the first soap i ever bought from Lush and it's still one of my favorites. I love the smell of honey so this is right up my alley. Really creamy and smooth on the skin and smells good enough to eat, but tastes bad (believe me!).

LUSH!

I Love, Love, Love Lush products. I have been using them for a long time, before they were available here in the US. I had to make a guess from the website about what looked good and mail order them! My first Lush experience was in Berlin Germany. I got off the train and smelled the familiar smell that comes from my bathroom. The sweet, amazing smell of Lush products! I smelled the store before I saw it! Now we are lucky because there are Lush stores everywhere in the U.S. My favorite is the one inside Macy's at oakbrook shopping mall. The staff there is super friendly and are always willing to make samples for you. Here are just a very few of my favorite Lush products...

in corner- Buffy Body Butter

*Exfoliating body butter to reveal silky, touchable skinScrub-a-dub-dub, get this body butter in the tub (or shower) and buff away the day's worries. Stress disappears as our lavender-scented body butter melts into your skin, making it way beyond silky. Ground rice, almonds and aduki beans exfoliate to velvety perfection as the natural butters provide maximum miniaturization. So put down your loofah, grab your Buffy, and smooth your cares away.
My take- This is my very favorite Lush product. It gets rid of dead skin like you wouldn't believe and leaves your skin so smooth you don't need a mosturizer. Smells amazing too!

Slammer Shower Gel

*Refreshing citrus prods tired brains awake7 alarms went off but nothing stirs you from slumber. You need Slammer waved under your nostrils to entice you into the shower. Citrus bubbles spring your eyes open and stimulating litsea cubeba oil prods your brain awake. Refreshing sea salt tickles your skin while honey soothes. Slammer, with its fresh lime juice and rock salt, bears resemblance to a tequila slammer. If you are partial to those in the evening then you might need a bottle of this to get you through the morning.
My take- This shower gel smells so good! Like oranges amped up and mixed with lemons and limes. Wakes you up in the morning when it's hard to get your eyes open. Stocked up on it when it was going to be discontinued and was thrilled they brought it back!

Rubensque paint pot

Not sure why I didn't already have this paint pot. These are great bases for under eye shadows (and remember you always need a base). This is such a pretty peachy/pink shimmer. Would be pretty as a color wash alone too. Probably would look amazing on tan skin (not that I would know, I never tan, just burn!).

MAC shadows I picked up today

I don't know if these colors really show though on here. from top left- "newly minted", really pretty matte bright green. "goldmine" a velvet goldish orangey color.
bottom from left- "satin Taupe" a beautiful chocolate brownish color is so amazing on all eye colors. really wearable and a must for all shadow wearers (is that a word?). In the middle is "brule". Eva got this last fall and it looks amazing on her so I thought I would pick this up since I don't already have this. "Samoa silk" is a light peachy orange matte color that I thought would be pretty for summer.

Style Warriors

MAC style warriors collection wasn't that exciting to me. Only bought these 2 shadows. Thought I would want a lot more, but wasn't feeling it. I felt like it's been forever since I was in the MAC store at woodfield! It's been almost a month? I'm excited to use this purple-"vibrant grape" and yellow/gold -"bright future" together. Will look really nice , I think!

Beauty Blender

This is the most awesome makeup sponge ever! It's made of some kind of silicone material and has a really nice feel to it. I got it from the sephora website for 20.00. You wet it and then towel it off so it is just a bit damp. It is used by stippling (dabbing or bouncing) on the face with the round part of the egg. The pointy part fits into the corners or the eyes and under the eyes. Foundation and concealers go on
perfectly and look flawless. LOVE this product! My face brushes will be so jealous!

These are very good quality for a drugstore brand. I believe these were about 3.oo and have a very pigmented color. They have some fun bright liners. I just bought a white liner and it works well. They are not as smooth and easy to use as say an Urban Decay Pencil (my fav). But for the price they are quite yummy!

Drugstore things I love!
These are super cheap and work great!
The oatmeal and honey scrub is a great smelling scrub that gentley removes dead skin and gets dirt from deep down.
The Mint Julep mask is the best acne mask I've
ever used. It really helps
when you feel a red yucky bump coming on. I use it at night right before bed. It feels kind of tight on the face and is minty feeling. It washes off. The next morning my face is nice and clear and no redness! It's cheap -I think I paid less than 4.00 for an 8oz tube. AND it really works!
