Sick Shopping

So, I'm sick from the swine flu and have been in the house for days. My sweet hubby gave me a Sephora egift card so I could shop from home and possibly have a little cheer. I haven't worn makeup in at least 5 days, maybe some kind of record for me. Anyway, imagine my wonderful surprise when I find out Sephora has friends and family discount going on right now!

What an amazing deal! I got a cool Urban Decay liner set, a NARS the multiple set and Bare Minerals Matte foundation. Very excited to try all of these. The liner set has a bunch of new colors in the 24/7 that I've never tried. My staple is zero, a very black eyeliner that I use daily. I will do reviews on all these new items as soon as I try them out.

Also, I think I have finally settled on a vanity that will hold all my makeup and I can move it off the bookshelf!!! I am hoping to order this in the next few days and get it up and running. Will take photos and may ask for help organizing because that is not my strong point.

So yes, the swine flu sucks!!! But shopping online is fun and I have had loads of time to do it!
cough, cough...

I think everyone should have this...

This is a sculpt and shape product. The dark part you apply to places you want to hide, like the hollows of your cheeks, a double chin, the side of a large nose. The light side is the highlighter, so that is the part you would put on your cheek bones, your forehead, down the side of your nose. The highlighter makes parts you want to show off stand out. It's like plastic surgery without the surgery part!!! I like this little compact because its together in one place. I have these from the pro store as two separate blush pans in my blush palette. This is nice to try for someone who has never sculpted before. It makes a HUGE difference to your face. It can literally make your face look 10 pounds lighter. I use a small angled brush (MAC 168) to do the sculpting (darker color). And then use a contour brush (MAC 109 I believe) to highlight. The contour brush is recommended to use as sculpt or contour (hence the name), but I really like the angled brush for that. It really gets into the hollows of the cheeks and makes you look like you have fabulous cheek bones. If you don't have access to a MAC store, most other lines have products similar to this, or you can just buy a really dark blush or bronzer. I think every makeup company has a highlighter product. So if you weren't born with good bone structure, get out there and do it yourself!

MAC brushes. My first tutorial. It will get better, I promise!

I made this awhile ago and just posted it to youtube. Wanted to see what it all looked like posted. I will be making better tutorials. I need to figure out the whole lighting issue, it has been keeping me from making more. I want them to look better than this one!

M∙A∙C STYLE BLACK

I'm really excited about this collection. It's pretty different from anything else that MAC has put out. I'm not sure what I want to get yet. I think I'll have to see it in person before I decide.

I'm so creative! brush holder.

I needed a place to put my brushes and the crummy cup thing I was using wasn't cutting it. It kept falling over. I was happy to find a large enough glass jar to hold them all and can hold even more as I get them. I decorated the jar with cute glittery pink stickers and a fun puffy one. So cute and functional as well!

glitter!

This looked really fun! I love glitter!!! These I guess can be used anywhere on the face or body. I will have to play with them a bit and get back to you on the quality and color payoff.

NYC jumbo pencils

The silver is pots and pan and the yellow green is lemon. I use these over a eye primer, not as the primer cause these will crease if on their own. These really make similar shadow colors POP!

This video shows the artists vision with these beautiful colors and some really fun abtract makeup choices.

Put the order in...

Ordered a boatload of stuff from the fall collections. I got pretty much everything I wanted which was mostly all shadows! I didn't get any lip stuff at all. Thank goodness for my pro discount is all I can say cause all my stuff (plus 2 small things for a friend) was like 300.00 without it! I did get free shipping, hmm that doesn't sound any better! I will put up color swatches as soon as the big box from MAC hits my door.

MAC new collections link

http://www.maccosmetics.com/

Tells the background of the three artists that inspire and design the fall collections. Cool color charts for the fall looks too.

I will be going to pick up some parts or all of the collections and will be doing some reviews soon. I want to start making videos but am really nervous to do so! Maybe just reviews to start and then some tutorials?

MAC is trying to bankrupt me!

I don't see a lot for the artist Marilyn Minter's (photographer) collection that interests me. I have most of these pigments already. Really just one pigment I really want. "push the edge" a really hot purple color. $19.50

MAC is trying to bankrupt me!

This is artist Maira Kalman, illustrater. Her style is childlike and whimsical. Bright fun colors!

top row-liners "color matters, obviously orange, artistic license, full of fushsia, graphblack" $14.50

top row-shadows "violet trance, purple shower, haunting" $14.50
(in decending order)
bottom row-shadows "maira's mood, off the page, crest the wave" $14.50

MAC is trying to bankrupt me!

So the absolutely fabulous MAC make-up art cosmetics collections are out on the website and in stores on Thursday. So much to chose from, and of course, I want it all!!! So, so hard to pick and chose with this collection. It is inspired from the different artists and is kind of their "take" on makeup and MAC as art (which it is!).

The first artist is a painter named Richard Phillips. His style is bold and dramatic. Some of the items I am eyeing.

Green quad- "photo realism" $36.00

Purple quad- "private viewing" $36.00

lipsticks- "front lit, high strung, hold the pose, full body" $14.00 each

starflash shadows

12 new shadows from MAC. I'm a bit slow on these as they came out last week. Just got these 3 to start. The far left color is "rated R" and was sold out everywhere. Was able to snag one at a Macy's. Really pretty color that blends well with many other colors. I can see why it's so popular. The middle is a green called "one-off" I LOVE greens if you don't all know by now, and this one is awesome. The starflash colors have a shine to them which I think shows up pretty well on the swatch on my finger. The blue on the right is "strike a pose". A nice deep blue with that flash to it. I will be ordering more, was short on cash at the mall this time!
